A Memory

So I'll be going back to L.A. one last time in a week or so to retrieve my Honda and drive back to Big D with my tail tucked firmly between my legs. For now. I'll pack it up at Greg's, see some friends hopefully and take in the crew screening of Kung-Fu Panda. My one shot at the big time. So far.

Life at Dreamworks was unlike anything I had ever experienced short of a college campus. Certainly not like any work experience prior. One of the cool things was the free food in the commissary. I totally saved my food budget trucking dinner home in those plastic clamshells. One day while standing in line, I noticed a tall lanky dude down a couple spots from me. Since Bee Movie was underway it wasn't totally uncommon to see Jerry Seinfeld walking around campus or spotting him in a catered conference room. But today, wow, here's this famous funny billionaire standing three feet away from me. Standing in the same lunch line as the rest of us poor slobs toiling away for our art and picking up his tray of veal piccatta. Huh, guess he's not so stuck up after all. I wish I could get a little closer. I crane my neck around this short guy in front of me and look down-Oh My God It's Jefferey Katzenberg!
